A non-invasive treatment that uses detailed micro-needles to deposit pigment into the scalp. The result creates the appearance of tiny hair follicles that help thicken and restore the look of fuller hair.
Treatment can restore receded hairlines, thicken remaining hair, camouflage transplant scarring, and create the look of close-cropped hair. It can also help strengthen and add density to thinning areas, creating an undetectable illusion of thicker, stronger hair.
This innovative treatment requires little to no continued maintenance and carries no strict lifestyle or daily restrictions.
Our clients call it …freedom!
Is SMP the right choice for me?
There are many options for hair loss available and If you have been thinning or balding for years you have most likely tried many of them with little to no results and a multitude of hours trying to get the desired effect. Fibers and waxes are messy and time-consuming and must be repeated daily and pills can take months or even years to see minimal results if any at all.
Hair transplants are very expensive and not everyone is a good candidate for one. Transplants leave scars and the transplanted hair may not take everywhere leading to repeated treatments and increasing costs.
Hair transplants cannot guarantee the results SMP can. The results of SMP are immediate and permanent at a fraction of the cost of a hair transplant. Maybe you’ve have had a transplant and have scars you would like to camouflage or areas which did not take. SMP will add the look of hair follicles over bare areas and camouflage those scars. If you have general thinning, SMP will add density in between your existing hair which is especially flattering on men and women
with longer hair.
Maybe you shave or are considering shaving your head. SMP will bring back your hairline and produce a natural frame to your face again. Hairlines can vary depending on your age or the look you are trying to achieve. You may want a more natural higher hairline to compliment you’re appropriate age. Alternatively you may want an “edge-up”, which is a look with a more sharply defined edge around your forehead and temples this complements a man who has a well manicured beard.
At Eternal Image Inc you will sit with your technician and customize the look that is right for you. Maybe you are a woman who has worn hair extensions or weaves for years and you have developed what is called tension alopecia. Generally the hair framing your face has broken off and /or is not growing back. SMP will fill in those balding or thinning areas once again.
Is SMP undetectable to others?
Yes it is. We match and blend our microdots to your existing hair and is therefore not noticeable. On a closely shaved head the existing hair looks like small dots. At Eternal Image Inc we replicate these dots using specialized needles based on the size of your natural hair follicles and color of your skin and hair. Using different shades of ink at each session as a three dimensional realistic look. These dots will also be built up at each of the required sessions until the desired density is achieved. For those clients who have thinning hair these microdots are added in between the existing hair until the desired look is attained.
At Eternal Image Inc we strive for the most natural look that suits you best using each session to add density and color for a completely undetectable look when your treatment is complete.
Do I have to keep my head shaved?
This depends on the amount of balding you are experiencing. Pattern baldness or even severe Alopecia clients are usually required to shave their heads to match the S&P treatment. For example, some people are balding more at the crown with recession at the temples but may still have some hair at the top or front of the head which they keep long and styled. Letting go of these patches can be very difficult for some but for SMP to be completely undetectable there cannot be varying lengths of hair around the head. If the hair is just “thinning” then Eternal Image Inc can fill in those areas adding density to the scalp and hairline. This is especially the case for our female clients, transplant clients or men with longer hair styles.
How long does SMP last?
Although SMP is permanent, touch-ups will help to maintain the look over your lifetime. How often will these “maintenance touch-ups” are required will depend on several factors including sun exposure, skin condition and your immune system. On average a client will need a touch-up every 4 to 5 years. Here at Eternal Image Inc we have a one-year guarantee against any fading which we do not anticipate in this time frame for our clients peace of mind.
Note: this 1-year guarantee does not include any additional hair loss or changing hairstyle that may expose new thinning or problem areas.
Is SMP the same as a tattoo?
No, we are not trained tattoo artists, we are specially trained for scalp micropigmentation. Although we use the most up-to-date tattoo machines, SMP utilizes special pigments designed for this procedure and the micro-needles used are specialized to deposit tiny individual dots that simulate a hair follicle.
How many sessions will this take?
As many as you need to achieve the desired look! The number of sessions is dependent on several factors including the extent of your hair loss and how well your scalp takes the deposited ink.
At Eternal Image Inc each session is generally 3 to 4 hours in length with at least 7 to 10 days between the first and second session and 2 to 4 more weeks between the second and third session. This time in between allows our technician to see how the scalp has reacted to the tattooing process and how the scalp is retaining the ink deposited in the previous session. This will determine if a darker color will be used in the next session and how much more density will be needed as well.
What if my hair turns gray as I age?
Over the course of a few years your SMP treatment will slowly become lighter which will have a minimal effect on someone wishing to go completely grey. You may never require a touch up. For other clients a touch-up can be used to “freshen up” their SMP treatment.
Is it painful?
SMP will feel like small pinpricks on your scalp with most clients rating the pain at about 2 or 3 out of 10. It will be more sensitive around the temples and forehead and least painful at the crown of the head. If approved by your doctor or healthcare provider ibuprofen is recommended after the procedure as it helps with pain and the inflammatory response that occurs post-procedure.
Will my scalp be red or sore after the treatment?
Your response to the SMP procedure varies between clients. You may experience varying degrees of redness for approximately the first 24 hours. In rare cases this redness may last a day or two longer. Over the next few days you may experience some itching as your scalp begins to heal. We will provide you with “Tattoo Goo” for your post SMP care.
How much does SMP cost?
The cost of SMP varies depending on the extent of your hair loss. Once you come in for your free consultation we will be able to determine the exact cost. A 25% deposit is required at time of booking. This deposit is non-refundable with less then one week notice is given for an appointment cancellation or change.
What is the cost of a touch-up?
Touch-ups take about 1 to 4 hours time depending on the coverage required. Touch-ups are priced hourly at $200 per hour.
Can I work after the treatment?
Yes you can. There is no down time associated with SMP. If you wish to cover your scalp during the healing process you will be asked that you use a clean hat or bandanna on your freshly tattooed head for the least amount of time as possible for no longer than a day or two. To wear them for any extended amount of time will cause excessive rubbing on your new SMP treatment.
This may result in the the inks removal . You are advised not to sweat excessively for the first 4 days as this will cause excessive shedding of the ink or even migration Under the Skin. You may need to change your gym workout routine for this period of time.
Effectiveness of process
The number of sessions is dependent on several factors including the extent of your hair loss and how well your scalp takes the deposited ink. It might take a couple sessions to achieve your desired look but the procedure is highly effective.
